Tata Electronics, a prominent player in India’s electronics manufacturing sector, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Himax Technologies, a leading Taiwanese company specializing in display driver ICs, and Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC), a top Taiwanese foundry and Tata Electronics’ Technology Transfer Partner. This strategic partnership aims to reshape the landscape of display technology and ultralow power AI sensing products in India, with a focus on both domestic and global markets.

This collaboration will combine the strengths of Tata Electronics, Himax, and PSMC to deliver end-to-end solutions for display semiconductors, spanning chip design, manufacturing, packaging, and electronics manufacturing services (EMS). Together, they will develop products catering to India’s “Made in India” requirements and contribute to the creation of next-generation solutions designed to meet growing global demand.

The partnership builds upon the significant 2024 agreement between Tata Electronics and PSMC to enhance advanced semiconductor manufacturing capabilities in India. This milestone further establishes the foundations for introducing innovative display technologies tailored to meet the needs of the Indian market.

Dr Randhir Thakur, CEO and MD of Tata Electronics, shared, “This MoU with Himax and PSMC allows us to combine our expertise to create differentiated solutions in display semiconductors. By merging Tata Electronics’ capabilities with Himax’s leadership in display and ultralow power AI sensing technologies, along with PSMC’s proven manufacturing solutions, we are building a powerful ecosystem that will address the demands of both the Indian and global markets.”

Jordan Wu, Co-Founder and CEO of Himax Technologies, stated, “We are excited to partner with Tata Electronics and PSMC as we expand our reach in India’s fast-growing display semiconductor market. With India becoming a key hub for electronics, this partnership will enable us to bring our cutting-edge display solutions and ultralow power AI sensing technologies to India, while also supporting the global supply chain.”

Martin Chu, President of PSMC, commented, “PSMC’s advanced semiconductor fabrication technologies are well-positioned to meet the ‘Made in India’ requirements. We look forward to collaborating with Tata Electronics and Himax to expand our presence and make a significant impact in the display semiconductor and ultralow power AI sensing sectors.”
