Tata Communications, a leading player in global communications technology, has unveiled a new submarine cable system, TGN-IA2, developed by the Asia Direct Cable (ADC) consortium. This new system is set to enhance network connectivity for businesses across Asia and beyond by integrating into Tata Communications’ existing global infrastructure.

TGN-IA2 is designed to provide high-capacity data transfer, scalable bandwidth, and seamless connectivity across multiple routes. It will enable businesses, hyperscalers, and service providers to access diverse, resilient connectivity solutions through a single provider for their intra-Asia networks. Additionally, the system will integrate smoothly with Tata Communications’ current assets, linking Asia with major global markets, including the US, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India.

Unlike traditional consortium-operated systems, Tata Communications owns and controls the end-to-end capacity upgrades of TGN-IA2. This autonomy offers unparalleled flexibility and scalability, allowing faster service provisioning and enhancing business readiness for clients. Enterprises will benefit from a network that evolves quickly to support data-heavy applications such as AI, data centre connectivity, and high-definition streaming, helping them stay competitive in the fast-paced digital landscape.

Industries like financial services, e-commerce, logistics, and any sector reliant on rapid, secure data exchange between Asia and key global hubs will experience faster internet speeds, improved latency, better reliability, and enhanced redundancy for business continuity. The system also ensures seamless interconnection with Tata Communications’ existing TGN-IA network.

Genius Wong, Executive Vice President and CTO of Tata Communications, emphasized, “We are committed to driving growth in digital connectivity by investing in innovative subsea cable systems. TGN-IA2 is designed to support our customers’ needs for high-performance connectivity, offering the scalability and flexibility they require as they expand globally. This upgrade further establishes Tata Communications as a leader in secure, smart, and scalable connectivity solutions.”
