Tata Chemicals Limited (TCL) has been awarded the “Capacity Building, Awareness, and Excellence Recognition Programme” by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE). Presented by Gargi Jain (IAS, Director, Employment and Training), the award acknowledges TCL’s exceptional efforts in apprenticeship training and skill development through its long-standing Apprenticeship Training School (ATS), established in 1954.

Over the years, the ATS has equipped thousands of youth with practical skills, empowering them to build careers in manufacturing industries across various sectors. TCL has consistently surpassed government-mandated apprenticeship benchmarks, achieving an impressive 4.5% apprenticeship rate annually.

The program recruits apprentices from diverse categories, including SSC graduates, ITI-certified candidates, and diploma or graduate trainees. Trainees receive hands-on experience across multiple departments at TCL’s plant, aligning with the Apprenticeship Act to ensure industry-relevant training.

Tata Chemicals has also taken notable strides in promoting gender inclusivity by offering women opportunities in fields traditionally dominated by men, such as Boiler Attendant and Maintenance Mechanic roles. This initiative underscores the company’s dedication to workforce diversity and youth empowerment, with a remarkable placement rate of 95% to 100% annually for its apprentices.

A part of the $165 billion Tata Group, Tata Chemicals is a leading supplier to the glass, detergent, and chemical industries. It also has a strong presence in crop protection through its subsidiary, Rallis India Limited. With world-class R&D facilities in Pune and Bangalore, Tata Chemicals continues to be a pioneer in industrial and chemical innovation.
