Tata Agrico, the flagship hand tools brand of Tata Steel, has become the first agricultural tools brand in India to receive the GreenPro Certification, a significant recognition of its dedication to sustainability in the farming sector. Awarded by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) through its Green Products and Services Council, the certification acknowledges Tata Agrico’s efforts to develop environmentally responsible and resource-efficient tools for agriculture. The recognition was formally presented to Tata Steel during a ceremony held in Chennai on August 13, 2025, attended by sustainability leaders, CII officials, and industry experts.

Peeyush Gupta, Vice President – TQM, Group Strategic Procurement & Supply Chain at Tata Steel, remarked, “We are honoured to receive the GreenPro Certification for Tata Agrico. This recognition reflects our long-standing commitment to support sustainable agriculture through products that not only deliver performance but also reduce environmental impact. In a country like India, where agriculture is vital to the economy, such milestones reinforce our focus on responsible business practices.”

The GreenPro Certification is a recognized Type-I eco-label that helps consumers identify products that adhere to high environmental performance standards. Certified products go through a comprehensive evaluation that includes assessments of raw materials, production methods, energy efficiency, recyclability, and overall environmental impact.

This achievement further strengthens Tata Agrico’s position as a market leader in the agri-tools space. Farmers and dealers can now rely on a product range that combines reliability, durability, and eco-friendliness—aligning with India’s growing emphasis on sustainable farming.

Established in 1925, Tata Agrico is the oldest brand under Tata Steel and has played a key role in supporting India’s agricultural and infrastructure sectors for nearly a century. Over the years, it has become a trusted name in high-quality hand tools. Today, Tata Agrico’s portfolio includes a wide variety of products such as agricultural implements, garden tools, files, general-purpose hand tools, welding electrodes, cutting wheels, and grinding wheels.

With this new recognition, Tata Agrico continues its journey of combining product innovation with environmental responsibility—contributing meaningfully to the nation’s transition towards greener and more sustainable agriculture.
