Tamil Nadu CM M.K. Stalin Unveils Foundation Stone for Saint-Gobain World Complex in Oragadam

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin officially laid the foundation stone today for Saint-Gobain’s new facility in Oragadam, Chennai. The project, known as the Saint-Gobain World Complex, will span 122 acres and marks the beginning of a major investment initiative valued at INR 3,400 crores, as part of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Tamil Nadu government.

The World Complex will house manufacturing units for various Saint-Gobain products, including Glasswool, Gypsum Plasterboards, Plasters, Acoustic Ceilings, Float Glass, Solar Glass, Adhesives, Sealants, and Mortars. The development is expected to create over 1,100 jobs, both directly and indirectly.

Santhanam, CEO for the Asia Pacific and India regions, and Chairman of Saint-Gobain India, remarked, “India’s fast-paced urbanization presents vast opportunities for sustainable and efficient solutions in the housing, construction, and infrastructure sectors. The Saint-Gobain World Complex is set to deliver innovative, high-performance solutions while promoting sustainability. With our current investment of INR 3,400 crores, our total commitment in Tamil Nadu will exceed INR 8,000 crores, which is over 50% of our total investment in India.”

The facility will launch with an Insulation production line, followed by the Gypsum Plasterboards line within the next six months, introducing two new business segments of Saint-Gobain to Tamil Nadu.
