Tamboran Resources Corporation has announced the successful completion of flow testing at its Shenandoah South 6H (SS-6H) well, located in the Beetaloo Basin in Australia’s Northern Territory. The results confirm stable performance, strong gas flow rates, and favourable early production characteristics, supporting the company’s ongoing development plans in the region.
The SS-6H well achieved an average IP20 flow rate of 10.3 million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d) from a lateral section measuring 8,635 feet within the Mid Velkerri B Shale formation. When normalized over a 10,000-foot horizontal section, the well delivered an average flow rate of 11.9 MMcf/d, reinforcing its production potential.
Flow testing was conducted over a 20-day period, during which the choke size was gradually increased from 20/64 inches to 60/64 inches. Over the final 15 days, the well was maintained at a steady choke setting, allowing for consistent performance monitoring. Gas production declined from 15.9 MMcf/d to 8.8 MMcf/d during the test period, with cumulative output reaching 205.6 MMcf. Flowing wellhead pressure decreased from 4,499 psi to 582 psi, reflecting controlled drawdown conditions.
The well was stimulated across 57 stages, including a toe stage, covering approximately 9,943 feet. However, an obstruction in the wellbore limited flow contribution from eight stages and part of the toe section, reducing the effective producing interval to 49 stages across 8,635 feet. Despite this constraint, the well demonstrated consistent output and low decline behaviour, aligning with performance observed in earlier wells within the same area.
At the conclusion of testing, the well continued to unload water at an approximate rate of 270 barrels per day, indicating ongoing cleanup. Testing was concluded after key technical objectives were achieved, with the decision aimed at preserving reservoir pressure and minimizing flaring and associated emissions.
Tamboran plans to utilise the SS-6H well for gas supply to the Northern Territory network later this year. The company is also preparing for its 2026 stimulation program, which includes completing three additional 10,000-foot wells to meet a target of approximately 40 MMcf/d under an existing gas sales agreement.
Tamboran Resources Corporation is an independent natural gas exploration and production company with a significant acreage position in the Beetaloo Basin. The company continues to focus on advancing large-scale gas development through an integrated and phased approach.
