Tadiran Telecom, an Israeli leader in unified communications, is set to invest $10 million (approximately ₹80 crore) annually to establish IP phone manufacturing operations in India. The company, in collaboration with DCM Shriram, plans to produce 100,000 IP telephones per year, with potential for increased investment as production scales up, according to Tadiran Telecom CEO Moshe Mitz. IP telephones, widely used in business environments, offer versatile communication capabilities, including app-based conference calling.

Speaking at the announcement event, Mitz emphasized that this initial investment is part of a phased strategy. “This $10 million allocation for manufacturing is just the start. If we meet our production goals, we will move to Phase 2, which includes software development,” he said, hinting at ongoing discussions with a leading Indian software company for collaboration.

Tadiran Telecom’s India journey spans over 26 years through channel partnerships. Currently, 70% of the company’s revenue comes from software, while hardware contributes the remaining 30%. As part of its India expansion, Tadiran plans to manufacture Class 2 equipment, making it eligible for government procurement. The partnership underscores Tadiran’s commitment to India as a key manufacturing hub, with long-term plans to expand its software capabilities alongside hardware production.

This marks DCM Shriram’s debut in electronics manufacturing. Rudra Shriram, President of DCM Shriram, highlighted the group’s role in supporting Tadiran’s operations. “We are not just manufacturing Tadiran’s products but also providing end-to-end supply chain support, including warehousing and logistics,” he said.
