India is a crucial market for Syngenta, a leading global agricultural firm, with a strong emphasis on driving innovation to support Indian farmers and boost food security, according to CEO Jeff Rowe. In an interview with a news agency, Rowe discussed the distinct challenges and opportunities in India. “The rapid market growth presents both hurdles and significant opportunities, with the latter far outweighing the former,” he remarked.
Syngenta is focused on providing solutions tailored to the specific needs of Indian farmers. “We are introducing some of our best new products to the Indian market. As a company operating in over 100 countries, we are committed to bringing our innovations to India early,” Rowe said.
The company’s growth strategy in India includes promoting sustainable and efficient farming practices. Rowe highlighted the importance of India’s northern region, known as the country’s breadbasket, while also recognizing potential across the entire nation.
Syngenta is set to roll out new technologies in crop protection, biological products, and vegetable seeds. “Innovation is at the core of our strategy,” Rowe emphasized, “and we aim to be a global leader in agricultural innovation.”
Recent initiatives include partnerships with drone companies in India to introduce precision farming technologies. “This collaboration is a prime example of how we are bringing sustainable solutions to Indian farmers,” Rowe noted.
Rowe acknowledged that while new technologies offer substantial benefits, they also add complexity. “Educating farmers about these innovations is key. Our goal is to accelerate the adoption of these advancements,” he explained.
Looking ahead, Syngenta India’s five-year plan focuses on innovation in crop protection, biologicals, and seeds, along with enhancing digital solutions and fostering a culture of transformation in the Indian agricultural sector.
