SWITCH Mobility Ltd, a leading manufacturer of electric buses and light commercial vehicles and part of the Hinduja Group, has introduced the all-new SWITCH EiV9, a next-generation 9-metre electric bus, at Prawaas 5.0, India’s premier multimodal transport exhibition. Alongside the product launch, the company unveiled its nationwide #SwitchKaro campaign to encourage wider adoption of electric mobility among fleet operators and businesses.

Developed for city transit, employee transportation and school mobility, the SWITCH EiV9 has been engineered to combine operational efficiency, passenger comfort and lower lifecycle costs. The platform has been designed to help fleet operators transition to electric mobility without compromising on performance, profitability or reliability.

The launch comes as demand for mid-sized electric buses continues to rise, driven by urbanisation, sustainability initiatives and growing investments in clean public transportation. SWITCH Mobility believes the 9-metre electric bus segment will witness significant growth over the coming years as cities and institutions modernise their fleets.

Commenting on the launch, Ganesh Mani, Chief Executive Officer, SWITCH Mobility, said, “The EiV9 reflects our commitment to delivering practical electric mobility solutions that create value for customers. Fleet operators are looking for vehicles that combine lower operating costs with dependable performance, superior passenger comfort and advanced safety. The EiV9 has been designed to meet these expectations while supporting the transition to sustainable transportation. Through our #SwitchKaro campaign, we also aim to encourage businesses and transport operators to adopt cleaner mobility solutions that make both environmental and commercial sense.”

The EiV9 is powered by a Permanent Magnet Variable Reluctance (PMVR) motor delivering up to 213 kW of peak power, ensuring smooth acceleration and dependable performance across diverse operating conditions. Multiple battery configurations enable operators to customise the vehicle for different route requirements, while regenerative braking and dual-gun CCS2 fast charging improve operational efficiency and vehicle uptime.

Passenger comfort has been a key design priority. The bus features a spacious interior, front and rear air suspension, ergonomic seating and individual USB charging ports. Staff transportation variants are available with pushback seats for enhanced comfort during longer journeys. Safety features include a Fire Detection and Suppression System (FDSS), disc brakes on both axles and a robust electric architecture designed for reliable operations.

At the exhibition, SWITCH Mobility also showcased its enhanced EiV12 Intercity electric bus, developed for long-distance passenger transport. Equipped with reclining seats, floor-mounted LFP battery packs, dual-gun fast charging, digital camera-based rear-view mirrors and the company’s SWITCH iON connected vehicle platform, the bus offers advanced diagnostics, remote monitoring and intelligent battery management to maximise fleet productivity.

SWITCH Mobility has recorded over 185 million electric kilometers globally and deployed more than 2,500 electric buses in India. The company continues to expand across city and intercity mobility segments, supporting the transition toward cleaner transportation systems. SWITCH Mobility develops electric buses and light commercial vehicles, combining engineering expertise with advanced technologies to deliver solutions that support sustainable mobility and operational efficiency across global markets.
