Suzlon has secured a 100.8 MW wind power contract from Sunsure Energy, marking Sunsure’s first venture into wind energy. The project, located in the Jath region of Maharashtra, is part of a broader push to boost renewable energy adoption among large-scale power producers and contribute to India’s target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

As part of the contract, Suzlon will deliver 48 S120 wind turbine generators, each with a capacity of 2.1 MW and mounted on Hybrid Lattice Towers. The scope of the agreement includes the supply, installation, commissioning, and long-term operation and maintenance of the turbines.

This development expands Sunsure Energy’s portfolio and supports its goal of offering continuous renewable power solutions to its customers in Maharashtra. The move also highlights a growing shift among Independent Power Producers (IPPs) towards wind as a reliable and efficient energy source.

JP Chalasani, CEO of Suzlon Group, stated, “Wider adoption of wind energy by large-scale producers is vital for meeting India’s clean energy goals. Wind offers a practical, cost-effective path to reliable power while encouraging growth and innovation across the sector.”

Vivek Srivastava, CEO – India Business at Suzlon, added, “This collaboration with Sunsure marks an important step in their transition into wind power. We look forward to working with more IPPs to scale renewable energy adoption in India.”

Manish Mehta, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Sunsure Energy, commented, “Bringing wind energy into our offerings is a strategic move to enhance our round-the-clock green energy solutions. This project strengthens our portfolio and is a key milestone toward our 2030 target of 10 GW renewable capacity. Partnering with Suzlon helps us deliver dependable clean energy to our clients and supports India’s shift toward a sustainable future.”

Established in 2014, Sunsure Energy helps businesses across India transition to clean energy. The company offers long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) covering solar, wind, and battery storage, enabling clients to replace up to 70% of their energy use with renewables. Backed by a $400 million equity investment from Partners Group AG, Sunsure is developing one of the largest industrial decarbonization platforms in India and Southeast Asia. It currently operates 500 MW, has 3.5 GW under construction, and aims for 10 GW by 2030.

Suzlon is a global provider of renewable energy solutions, with around 20.9 GW of wind installations across 17 countries. Headquartered in Pune, India, the company operates R&D facilities in India and Europe and manufactures components across its Indian facilities. With 29 years of experience and over 7,800 employees, Suzlon manages nearly 15 GW of wind assets in India and an additional 6 GW internationally. The company offers next-generation wind turbines in the 2.x MW and 3.x MW range.
