Suzlon Group, a leading wind energy solutions provider, has announced its pledge to power all 15 of its manufacturing units entirely with renewable energy by 2030. The company has also become the first Indian energy firm to join the RE100 Initiative, a global movement led by Climate Group in partnership with CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project). RE100 brings together more than 400 of the world’s leading companies across sectors, each committed to sourcing 100% renewable electricity.

“Joining RE100 underscores our belief that leadership in renewable energy must begin with our own operations. We are not only delivering clean energy to the world but also ensuring that our manufacturing processes are fully powered by renewables,” said J P Chalasani, CEO, Suzlon Group.

This initiative aligns with Suzlon’s broader decarbonization roadmap, which targets carbon neutrality for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2035, and Net Zero across Scope 1, 2, and 3 by 2040. Scope 1 refers to direct operational emissions, Scope 2 covers indirect emissions from purchased electricity, while Scope 3 includes emissions across the value chain—from suppliers to product lifecycle.

Over the past year, the company has made notable progress in advancing its ESG commitments. It achieved 92.87% carbon neutrality at the plant level, with its rotor blade facility in Dhule already operating on 100% renewable energy. Suzlon Group today stands as a global renewable energy solutions provider with around 21.1 GW of wind energy capacity installed across 17 countries.
