Suzlon Group and Torrent Power Ltd. have successfully reached a major milestone by collectively generating 1 GW of wind energy in India, marked by a new 486 MW hybrid wind energy order. This collaboration plays a vital role in advancing India’s renewable energy goals, including the target to source 50% of electricity from renewables, while also supporting the Make in India initiative. As part of the agreement, Suzlon will provide 162 advanced S144 wind turbine generators (WTGs) with Hybrid Lattice Towers, each rated at 3 MW, for installation in the Bhogat region of Gujarat.
Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of Suzlon Group, stated, “We are proud to work alongside Torrent, a leader in integrating renewable energy into their power portfolio. Our decade-long partnership has led to 1 GW of cumulative orders across Gujarat and Karnataka, benefiting nearly 1 million households. Built on trust and innovation, our collaboration continues to drive India’s energy transition towards a sustainable future.”
JP Chalasani, CEO of Suzlon Group, added, “Torrent Power has been a long-term partner, and together, we share a commitment to providing sustainable and reliable power. The success of the S144 wind turbine, particularly in low-wind conditions, has been pivotal to our joint success, and this milestone underscores the strength of our partnership and the role of technology in accelerating India’s renewable energy development.”
