The Curfboard is a combination of a surfboard and a stakeboard and a new type of sports equipment. This is capable of withstanding the most-extreme and tough Curf conditions. For development of this Curfboard, wear-resistant plain bearings manufactured from iglidur Z and iglidur J350 are used.
The manufacturer promises the ultimate surf-ride feeling on wheels. They have new, special axes and lack rubber dampers or springs. For self-regulation, they have 4-joint kinematics. The weight of the rider is automatically adjusted due to gravity. Additionally, the board displays a better response, owing to which it is easier to control. The rider need not give a push to move this equipment.
The speed is generated due to shifting of the body’s weight and also uphill. The skateboard provides stresses to the axles and the bearings specifically while cornering, the curfboard experiences stress all the time. The special wear-resistant bearings mentioned above are to withstand these continuous stresses.
Stephan Augustin, the inventor of this skateboard implemented a four-month outdoor test under very harsh conditions using disparate bearings. After evaluation of the various test results, he chose the igus plain bearings. The metal or PTFE composite plain bearings became worn in a short duration and totally failed, the iglidur plain bearings of the motion plastics specialist were successful. The essential attributes were that they must be abrasion-resistant, corrosion-free, and maintenance-free despite the permanent high loads.

The material of the iglidur J350 has high wear resistance and insensitivity to edge pressure. For low-stressed points, plain bearings are used. The material has a low coefficient of friction on Steel and Aluminum and is insensitive to impact and shock. Another advantage is that dirt fails to stick to the bearings. They are not in need of any lubrication. Because solid lubricants are embedded in the plastic, the bearing is totally dry. Dirt and dust cannot adhere easily and can be easily washed off.
