Sungrow Hydrogen has secured the largest portion of the hydrogen production equipment contract for the “100,000-ton Liquid Sunshine” Demonstration Project by China Coal Ordos Energy Chemical, a key national green hydrogen initiative. The company will supply 16 alkaline electrolyzers (each with a capacity of 1,200 Nm³/h) along with integrated gas-liquid separation and purification systems, further solidifying its position as a leader in large-scale industrial green hydrogen solutions.
The USD 680 million project aims to integrate renewable energy, hydrogen, and energy storage systems (ESS) to reduce carbon emissions from coal-based industries. The project’s key elements include a significant 625 MW of combined wind and solar power capacity, which will serve as the foundation for its renewable energy production.
This energy will be used to generate 21,000 tons of green hydrogen annually, contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable energy mix. The hydrogen produced will also play a crucial role in the synthesis of 100,000 tons of methanol per year, utilizing both CO₂ and green hydrogen as feedstocks.
Upon completion, the project is expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by 500,000 tons annually. This comprehensive integration of renewable energy, green hydrogen production, and methanol synthesis marks a significant step toward decarbonizing industries and advancing the global transition to sustainable energy.
Sungrow Hydrogen’s flexible green hydrogen production system, a core element of the project, is designed to meet strict operational requirements, ensuring stable and continuous performance. It efficiently integrates with variable renewable energy sources like solar and wind, enabling large-scale green hydrogen production.
The system also supports the green hydrogen-to-methanol conversion process, offering scalable low-carbon solutions for high-emission industries such as coal chemical engineering, crucial for commercial viability. As numerous large-scale green hydrogen projects are underway globally, Sungrow Hydrogen is playing a leading role in accelerating the shift from pilot projects to widespread industrial adoption of green hydrogen technology.
