Sundaram Clayton Limited (SCL), a leading manufacturer of aluminium die-cast components, has reported improved profitability for the financial year 2024–25, supported by operational efficiency gains and strategic capacity expansion. The company also announced the successful commissioning of a new mega casting facility in Chennai.
For the year ended March 2025, SCL reported revenue of ₹2,109.14 crore, a marginal increase from ₹2,096.97 crore in the previous year. The company’s operating EBITDA margin rose to 13.44%, compared to 12.78% in FY 2023–24. Profit before tax stood at ₹306.08 crore, including an exceptional gain of ₹196.69 crore. Profit after tax amounted to ₹257.92 crore.
In the fourth quarter, SCL reported revenue of ₹524.54 crore, slightly lower than ₹532.32 crore in the corresponding quarter of the prior year. However, the operating EBITDA margin improved significantly to 16.65%, up from 11.47% in Q4 FY24.
A major development during the year was the commencement of full-scale operations at the ThervoyKandigai Plant (TKP) in Chennai. Commissioned in January 2025, TKP is now the largest integrated die-casting facility in India, housing high-pressure, low-pressure, and gravity die-casting technologies, along with advanced machining capabilities. The facility incorporates digital and automated systems, including robotic manufacturing cells, automated storage and retrieval systems, and autonomous mobile robots.
The TKP is equipped to accommodate future expansion, including mega-die presses ranging from 6000 to 9000 tonnes. It is intended to serve global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with components for powertrain systems, chassis, structural parts, and lightweight vehicle applications. As part of an operational consolidation strategy, SCL is relocating its Mahindra World City and Oragadam units to the new facility.
Additionally, in March 2025, SCL entered into a business transfer agreement with SandharAscast Private Limited for the sale of its Hosur plant’s low-pressure and low-tonnage die-casting operations. The transaction, structured as a slump sale, includes the associated land and is reflected in the company’s financials under exceptional income.
SCL continues to expand its international footprint, particularly in North America. The company has commenced production from a newly installed 4400-tonne die-casting machine in the United States, which will supply precision components to commercial vehicle manufacturers in the region.
Established in 1962, Sundaram Clayton is a critical supplier to the global automotive industry, providing high-precision aluminium die-cast components for both commercial and passenger vehicles. The company remains focused on technological advancement, operational integration, and sustainability.
