Submissions Open for the 2025 Altair Enlighten Award

Altair (Nasdaq: ALTR), a global leader in computational intelligence, has announced the opening of submissions for the 2025 Altair Enlighten Award. This prestigious annual award, in partnership with the Center for Automotive Research (CAR), recognizes the top advancements in automotive sustainability and lightweighting that help reduce carbon footprints, conserve water and energy, and promote material reuse and recycling in the industry.

James R. Scapa, founder and CEO of Altair, emphasized the importance of technology in driving automotive innovation. “The Enlighten Award honors those creating a more sustainable automotive industry, spotlighting technologies and organizations that are leading the way in electrification, sustainable materials, and lightweighting,” he said.

The award encompasses several categories, each recognizing advancements in sustainability and innovation within the automotive industry. The Sustainable Product category honors production vehicles or major systems that contribute to emissions reduction, lightweighting, material circularity, and safety. The Sustainable Process category highlights manufacturing or engineering processes that promote sustainability through emissions reductions, material recycling, and water conservation.

The Module Lightweighting category rewards efforts to reduce the mass of vehicle modules, subsystems, or components, contributing to improved efficiency and performance. Meanwhile, the Enabling Technology category acknowledges innovations that facilitate vehicle lightweighting, including advancements in materials, production techniques, design methods, or joining technologies. The Future of Lightweighting category looks ahead to emerging processes, materials, or technologies that have the potential to significantly influence vehicle lightweighting in the years to come.

Additionally, the award recognizes the role of advanced computing and artificial intelligence in sustainability. The Responsible AI category honors the integration of AI across the automotive value chain to enhance design, engineering, operation, and production while maintaining sustainable practices. Lastly, the Sustainable Computing category celebrates technologies and strategies that prioritize energy efficiency, renewable energy use, and environmentally friendly computing solutions.

Andrew Brown Jr., Chairman of the Board at CAR, shared his excitement for the award, saying, “The Enlighten Award is truly unique. It celebrates sustainability across companies of all sizes and specialties, and we’re excited to see this year’s innovative submissions at the 60th anniversary of MBS in Detroit.”

The award draws global interest from industry leaders, engineers, policymakers, educators, and the public. Past winners have included GM, Ford, Stellantis, Harley-Davidson, Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, Ferrari, JLR, Mercedes, BMW, and many more.

Submissions for the 2025 Altair Enlighten Award must be submitted by June 16, 2025. Winners will be announced on September 16, 2025, during the annual CAR MBS event, held in Detroit at the historic Michigan Central Station.
