Sterlite Technologies (NSE: STLTECH), a top optical and digital solutions provider, has been awarded the crucial Jammu & Kashmir segment of the BharatNet III project, in partnership with DilipBuildcon Limited. This ₹2,600 crore project (₹1,625 crore for capital expenditure and ₹975 crore for operations and maintenance) aligns with STL’s commitment to advancing digital connectivity across India.

STL’s unique, automation-driven fibre deployment process leverages advanced technologies like drone surveys, GIS mapping, and AI-led design, achieving nearly 26% faster fibre installation and reducing fibre cuts by almost four times compared to traditional methods. Tailored for large-scale BharatNet projects, STL’s approach promises a faster and higher-quality rollout, bringing reliable broadband access to underserved regions in Jammu & Kashmir.

With a solid record of success in complex projects, STL has previously implemented the extensive Network for Spectrum (NFS) project, creating an intrusion-proof network over 10,000 kilometers for India’s Armed Forces. The new BharatNet project will further expand broadband access to rural villages, fostering growth in education, healthcare, and economic opportunities throughout the state.

STL’s extensive experience with BharatNet includes past projects like Mahanet in Maharashtra and T-Fibre in Telangana. With over 1,50,000 kilometers of fibre deployed across India, STL has proven itself as a trusted leader in large-scale network projects.

“Our role in this project is about much more than laying fibre,” said Praveen Cherian, CEO of STL’s Global Services Business. “We’re accelerating connectivity with technology-driven deployment, and our Fibre Automation Solution enables three times faster installations. That’s the STL advantage, and it’s what we’re bringing to BharatNet in Jammu & Kashmir.”

Sterlite Technologies Ltd. (STL) is a global leader in digital and optical solutions, specializing in advanced network infrastructure to support 5G, fiber-to-the-home (FTTx), rural broadband, and enterprise networks. With a focus on transforming digital connectivity, STL provides end-to-end services, from design to deployment, integrating innovative solutions like AI-led network automation, drone-based surveys, and GIS mapping to achieve faster and more efficient fiber deployments.

The company has successfully executed major projects across India, including the BharatNet initiative, bringing high-speed internet to rural regions, and the Network for Spectrum (NFS) project, creating one of the world’s largest secure networks for the Indian Armed Forces. Headquartered in Pune, STL operates in over 100 countries, with a robust commitment to building reliable, scalable networks that connect and empower communities worldwide.
