Sterlite Technologies partners with UAE’s Du Telecom for advanced Optical Fibre solutions

Sterlite Technologies (STL), a leading provider of optical fibre solutions, has announced a strategic partnership with Du Telecom, one of the United Arab Emirates’ prominent telecommunications providers. This collaboration aims to enhance fibre-dense mobile and Fibre to the Home (FTTH) networks across the UAE. The announcement was made on May 14, as per STL’s filing with stock exchanges.

The partnership builds upon a five-year agreement between the two companies for the supply of advanced optical fibre cables. FTTH technology, which uses fibre-optic cables to deliver broadband internet connections, is central to this initiative, promising improved data transmission and network performance.

As part of this agreement, STL will supply its state-of-the-art optical cable designs featuring bend-resistant fibres. These advanced cables are engineered to provide superior network performance, particularly in FTTH applications, ensuring high-speed internet connectivity and reliability.

Ala’ El-Hakawati, STL’s key account manager, emphasized the longstanding relationship between the two companies, noting that STL has been a preferred partner for Du Telecom for over 12 years. He remarked, “This milestone signifies a continuity of the customer’s confidence in our optical solutions. Du’s vision of enhancing life anytime, anywhere and STL’s purpose of transforming billions of lives by connecting the world are closely aligned and have been the driving force behind this partnership.”

The partnership aligns with STL’s mission to leverage advanced technology to improve global connectivity. By providing cutting-edge optical fibre solutions, STL aims to support Du Telecom’s vision of enhancing the quality of life through improved telecommunications infrastructure.

The collaboration is expected to significantly bolster the UAE’s telecommunications landscape, facilitating the expansion of high-speed internet access and robust network infrastructure. This move is anticipated to meet the growing demand for reliable and high-performance connectivity in the region, driven by increasing internet usage and digital transformation initiatives.

Founded by Anil Agarwal, STL continues to establish itself as a key player in the global telecommunications industry, with a focus on innovation and customer-centric solutions. The partnership with Du Telecom represents a strategic step forward in STL’s efforts to expand its footprint in the Middle East and contribute to the region’s digital future.
