Sterlite Power announced the successful commissioning of the Nangalbibra-Bongaigaon transmission line, an inter-state project designed to enhance power infrastructure in Assam and Meghalaya. The 300 circuit kilometer transmission system, which includes a new substation with a 300 MW transformation capacity, will improve the reliability of electricity supply in Meghalaya, the company said in a statement.
The project features a 123 km, 400kV DC transmission line linking Bongaigaon in Assam to a new substation at Nangalbibra in Meghalaya. The Nangalbibra substation is equipped with a 220/132kV system and has a 2×160 MVA transformation capacity, with plans for future expansion to 400kV to meet growing energy demands.
