Stellantis, the maker of Citroen and Jeep cars in India, has begun exporting Citroen electric vehicles from its plant in Thiruvallur, near Chennai. The company has already sent 1,000 cars to Indonesia and plans to increase exports to South-East Asia, South Asia, and West Asia in the coming months.

Shishir Mishra, Brand Director of Citroen India, announced the news at the ‘India EV 2024’ event organized by Entrepreneur India. Mishra said the company has managed to produce the cars at an “attractive cost.”

While the battery packs are not yet made locally, Mishra mentioned that Stellantis is interested in battery localisation but noted that estimating cost savings from this move is challenging.
