Stellantis has inaugurated a new software innovation center in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, focusing on the development of cutting-edge software and technology to drive advancements in automotive and mobility solutions. Reflecting CEO Carlos Tavares’ vision for Stellantis in India and aligned with the company’s Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan, this is Stellantis’ second major global innovation hub in the country.

Spanning 50,000 square feet, the Bengaluru facility will lead development for STLA SmartCockpit, one of the key digital platforms in Stellantis’ transformation journey, set to launch in 2024 and integrate across the company’s four STLA vehicle platforms.

The center will also be instrumental in advancing AI and ADAS technologies for STLA AutoDrive, while supporting base software platforms using Classic and Adaptive Autosar frameworks. A state-of-the-art acoustic lab in the new center will focus on creating unique audio signatures and enhancing audio experiences for Stellantis vehicles globally.

Yves Bonnefont, Stellantis’ Chief Software Officer, inaugurated the new site alongside the company’s Indian leadership. He emphasized that “Stellantis is excited to drive the era of software-defined vehicles. We are committed to global talent development, and India’s tech expertise and dynamic startup ecosystem are essential to our transformation into a sustainable mobility tech company.” India’s role is central to the companies digital strategy and software ambitions.

With plans to employ around 500 people, the company is actively recruiting while investing in upskilling and reskilling initiatives for local talent to support global projects. The company is also collaborating with Indian universities to develop industry-specific curricula to expand its technological capabilities further.

This innovation hub is a significant step in it’ software-driven approach, leveraging next-generation tech platforms and connected vehicle features to transform customer interactions and achieve an annual revenue target of €20 billion by 2030. In India, the company is also represented by Jeep and Citroën, offering a wide selection of vehicles for both domestic and export markets.
