Stellantis India, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited (TMPV) and its subsidiary Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited (TPEM) have signed a definitive agreement to expand their existing partnership into advanced vehicle technology and product development. The agreement builds on a memorandum of understanding signed in February 2026 and brings together Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles’ technology and vehicle architecture capabilities with Stellantis’ global product development and engineering expertise.

Under the agreement, TMPV will provide Stellantis access to its advanced product technologies and vehicle architecture. Stellantis will use these capabilities, along with its product development and engineering resources in India, to develop vehicles for more than 50 international markets. The products will be adapted to meet different customer preferences, regulatory requirements and operating conditions.

The vehicles developed under the agreement will be manufactured in India at Fiat India Automobiles Private Limited (FIAPL), a 50:50 joint venture between TMPV and Stellantis. The collaboration is expected to use India’s engineering capabilities and manufacturing capacity to support vehicle development and exports.

The February 2026 memorandum of understanding covered potential cooperation in manufacturing, engineering and supply chains in India and overseas. The latest agreement establishes a specific framework for product technology and vehicle architecture collaboration.

Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, said the partnership had developed over more than two decades on the basis of mutual trust and complementary capabilities. He said the agreement would extend the relationship into advanced vehicle technology and architecture, enabling Stellantis to use TMPV’s capabilities to develop products for global markets.

Tianshu Xin, Chief Operating Officer of Stellantis’ Asia-Pacific region, said the agreement would combine Tata Motors’ capabilities in India with Stellantis’ product development expertise and international market reach. He added that the partnership would support the development of competitive vehicles and expand export opportunities while strengthening India’s role as a manufacturing and development centre for Stellantis. Stellantis operates a portfolio of 14 automotive brands, including Jeep, Peugeot, Citroën, Fiat, Opel, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler and Ram, with a presence across Europe, North America, South America, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific.

FIAPL operates an integrated vehicle and powertrain manufacturing facility at Ranjangaon near Pune. The plant produces selected Stellantis models, including the Jeep Compass, Meridian, Grand Cherokee and Wrangler, as well as Tata Motors models such as the Nexon, Altroz and Curvv. It also manufactures engines, transmissions and traction motors and exports vehicles to markets including Japan and South Africa. The agreement positions India as a manufacturing base for vehicles developed through the combined capabilities of both companies, with production intended to serve domestic and international markets.
