The company submitted seven applications for various products under the PLI scheme and has received certification for its initial product, a hub wheel drive motor designed for electric two-wheelers, according to a regulatory filing by Sona Comstar.

In 2021, the government launched the Automotive Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme to encourage the local manufacturing of advanced automotive technology vehicles and products.
