Sahajanand Medical Technologies Ltd. (SMT) has announced that it has won the Italian national CONSIP tender, a significant two-year contract that allows them to supply their innovative Hydra Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) devices to every hospital in Italy. This achievement represents a major milestone in SMT’s ongoing efforts to improve patient care through cutting-edge medical technology.
The Hydra TAVI device is known for its advanced features, including optimal radial strength and supra-annular valve positioning, which enhances its deliverability. With this tender, all National Health Service (NHS) hospitals in Italy can now procure Hydra TAVI, ensuring that healthcare providers have access to the latest solutions for treating aortic stenosis, which in turn will lead to improved patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
Gaurav Goel, Global Head of the Structural Heart Division at SMT, expressed excitement about the tender, saying, “Being recognized in the CONSIP tender highlights the quality and effectiveness of our Hydra TAVI technology. This opportunity enables us to work closely with healthcare providers across Italy to deliver life-saving solutions and elevate the standard of care for patients with aortic stenosis. SMT is dedicated to driving innovation and excellence in the field of structural heart disease.”
Gennaro Broya de Lucia, SMT’s Distributor Manager for Europe, added, “Our classification in the CONSIP tender reflects the hard work and commitment of our team. The contribution of Eukon, our national Italian SMT importer, has been crucial in achieving this success. This partnership will help us meet the NHS’s procurement needs, ensuring that Italian hospitals have access to the latest medical technology.”
The NHS’s focus on value-based procurement prioritizes cost-effectiveness and high-quality patient care, aligning perfectly with SMT’s mission to provide cutting-edge medical solutions at competitive prices. This tender reinforces SMT’s position as a leader in the medical technology industry and underscores the importance of equipping healthcare professionals with the best tools to tackle critical health challenges.
CONSIP is an Italian state-owned company that provides frameworks and consultation for the procurement of public goods and services. Hydra is a self-expanding nitinol stent frame equipped with three bovine pericardium leaflets in a supra-annular position, providing a large effective orifice area and low transvalvular pressure gradient. A high-sealing skirt at the inflow part of the stent frame reduces paravalvular leakage. The contoured non-flared inflow part of the stent frame aims to minimize interference with the conduction system, thus reducing the risk of new conduction abnormalities.
SMT is a global medical device company committed to making advanced medical technologies accessible worldwide. Operating in 80 countries, SMT has been recognized by the Ministry of Health Sciences & Technologies for its significant contributions to coronary healthcare. SMT was also a pioneer in introducing biodegradable polymers in the cardiovascular sector.
