The sixth edition of Smart Home Expo 2025 officially opened today at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. Organized by Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India Pvt Ltd and World Media & Expo LLP, the event showcases a comprehensive range of technologies including smart home and building automation systems, audio-visual innovations, smart lighting, and advanced consumer electronics. Over 450 participating brands are presenting integrated solutions designed to redefine residential and commercial living environments. The expo will run through 10 May 2025.
The exhibition places a strong emphasis on intelligent systems such as voice-activated lighting, biometric security solutions, and fully automated home entertainment, which are increasingly being adopted across premium real estate developments. These technologies are not only enhancing comfort and security but are also contributing to energy efficiency and sustainable building practices.
The opening ceremony of Smart Home Expo 2025 was marked by the presence of several distinguished industry leaders, including Chief Guest Dominic Romell, Managing Director of Romell Group and President of CREDAI-MCHI. Other notable attendees included Wendy Griffiths, Senior Vice President of Membership and Global Development at CEDIA; Sumant Bhatia, General Manager of the Automation Business at Havells India; Ar Sarosh Wadia, National President of the Indian Institute of Interior Designers (IIID); and Casto Canavate, Marketing Team Leader at KNX Association.

A notable highlight on the first day was the Smart Space Awards 2025, held in association with the IIID Mumbai Regional Chapter. The awards honor innovative applications of smart technology in architectural and interior design across residential and commercial projects. The initiative offers professionals a platform to showcase projects that exemplify excellence in integration, design, and intelligent functionality.
The conference component of the three-day Smart Home Expo presents an extensive lineup of expert-led sessions and panel discussions, focusing on key themes shaping the future of home automation and intelligent living. The first day explores the evolution of smart panels and switches, projections for smart homes by 2035, and the adaptation of international automation trends to suit local needs. Discussions also delve into customer journey optimization, the role of standards in automation, and the balance between wired and wireless technologies in Indian households. Sessions on personalization, sustainability, and a keynote by KNX India round out the day’s agenda.
On the second day, attention shifts to the sensory and security dimensions of smart homes. Topics include the significance of acoustics in AV system design, the impact of immersive audio-visual technology on user experience, and advancements in display technology. A major focus is placed on home security, with sessions exploring both responsive and proactive smart security systems tailored to the Indian market. Lighting takes center stage through discussions on lighting controls, automation complexities, and the design processes that enhance perceptual experiences. Several interactive and expert-led sessions will provide further insight into lighting technologies and their integration into smart environments.
The final day examines emerging trends and structural innovation within the smart building sector. Sessions will address the concept of autonomous buildings capable of self-management, and the challenges and opportunities in retrofitting older structures with modern technologies. Presentations on the use of Building Management Systems (BMS) to drive energy efficiency, the role of predictive analytics in operational decision-making, and the integration of digital twin technology for planning and infrastructure development are scheduled. The agenda concludes with discussions on the broader economic impact and return on investment of smart building systems.
