Skipper Bags Rs 737 Crore Order from Power Grid Corporation

Skipper Ltd, a prominent maker of power transmission and distribution structures, announced securing a ₹737 crore order from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL). The order entails designing, supplying, and constructing an advanced 765 kV transmission line for the central PSU.

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) is a Maharatna company that transmits about 50% of the total power generated in India on its transmission network. Sharan Bansal, the director of Skipper, showed great excitement about the company’s recent accomplishment in the power transmission and distribution sector. He emphasized Skipper’s positive outlook on the industry, pointing out a significant increase in the company’s order book in this sector. The year-to-date order intake has surpassed ₹3,900 crore.

“Our order book in the transmission and distribution (T&D) sector has been significantly strengthened by the recent orders from PGCIL. With a year-to-date order intake exceeding ₹3,900 crore, these recent successes are expected to make a substantial contribution to our planned growth path in the coming years,” he stated.

The corporation, which also operates within the polymer sector, disclosed a notable surge in its combined net earnings, registering a remarkable 115% rise to ₹20.4 crore during the third quarter concluding in December 2023. This substantial increase starkly contrasts with the ₹9.5 crore figure recorded during the corresponding period in the preceding year.

During the quarter, revenue experienced a significant 80% increase, reaching ₹801 crore, driven by strong execution and a healthy order book, according to Bansal. He also mentioned that the order bidding pipeline continues to be strong, with a substantial international pipeline of ₹9,830 crore and a domestic pipeline of ₹5,200 crore.
