SJVN Limited, a joint venture between the Government of India and the Himachal Pradesh government, has signed an MoU with Rajasthan’s Energy Department to develop 7 GW of renewable energy projects. The agreement, finalized in the presence of Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, includes plans for 5 GW of Pumped Storage Projects and 2 GW of Floating Solar Projects.
The MoU was signed by SJVN’s Director of Finance, Akhileshwar Singh, and Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RRECL) Managing Director Om Kasera. This partnership aligns with SJVN’s ambitious target of reaching 25,000 MW capacity by 2030 and 50,000 MW by 2040, reaffirming its focus on renewable energy expansion.
The agreement highlights ambitious renewable energy initiatives, including 5 GW of Pumped Storage Projects designed to tackle energy storage challenges and ensure a reliable balance between renewable energy supply and demand. Additionally, 2 GW of innovative Floating Solar Projects will leverage water surfaces for solar power generation, optimizing space utilization and advancing sustainable energy solutions.
The collaboration also strengthens Rajasthan’s position as a leader in renewable energy development, combining cutting-edge technologies with sustainable practices.
