SJVN Green Energy, a subsidiary of the state-owned SJVN, recently announced that it has been awarded a letter of intent for a 200 MW solar project valued at Rs 1,100 crore from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL). This project was secured through a tariff-based competitive bidding process at a rate of Rs 2.66 per unit on a BOO basis.
SJVN Green Energy Private Limited, a subsidiary of SJVN Limited, is a pioneering entity in the renewable energy sector, with a primary focus on hydroelectric power projects. Established in 2016, the company has quickly emerged as a key player in India’s quest for sustainable energy solutions.
The bidding process, conducted by GUVNL, took place on March 2, 2024. The total estimated cost for the construction and development of this solar project is Rs 1,100 crore. It is planned to be set up at the Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Ltd (GSECL) Solar Park located in Khavda.
The finalization of the PPA with GUVNL will be conducted following the approval of the tariff by the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC). The project, once the PPA is signed, is scheduled to be completed within a timeframe of 18 months from the date of the PPA signing, demonstrating a commitment to timely and efficient execution.
Once operational, it is expected to generate approximately 508.40 million units of electricity in its first year and an estimated total of about 11698.16 million units over a span of 25 years. This initiative is anticipated to result in the reduction of approximately 573210 tonnes of carbon emissions.
