SJVN Green Energy Commissions 90 MW Floating Solar Project at Omkareshwar

SJVN Limited has announced the successful commissioning of the 90 MW Omkareshwar Floating Solar Project by its wholly-owned subsidiary, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL). With this new project, the company’s total installed capacity has increased to 2,466.50 MW, as per a regulatory filing.

The Omkareshwar Floating Solar Project, located in Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh, is one of the largest floating solar installations in Central and North India. The project marks SJVN’s entry into the floating solar power sector.

Developed at a cost of Rs 646.20 crore, the project is expected to generate 196.5 million units of energy in its first year and an estimated 4,629.3 million units over 25 years. The project is anticipated to boost SJVN Ltd’s annual revenue by Rs 64 crore.

SJVN currently has a total project portfolio of 56,802.40 MW, with ongoing developments in Hydro, Pumped Storage, Thermal, and Renewable Energy sectors. In related news, SJVN announced on August 3 that Sushil Sharma, Director (Projects) at SJVN Limited, has been given the additional charge as Chairman & Managing Director, effective from August 1, 2024, for a period of three months or until a full-time appointment is made.
