SJVN Green Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN, has recently signed a deal with Solar World Energy Solutions. The agreement contains the supply of the Balance of System (BoS) package for two expansive grid-connected solar power projects with a combined capacity of 360 MW in Gujarat. The projects, set for installation at Mothara village in the Kutch district, comprise a 100 MW and a 260 MW facility.
Solar World Energy Solutions Private Limited is a solar integrator, handling projects spanning from kilowatts to megawatts. Their expertise lies in the complete provision of services including design, sales, and installation of solar electric equipment. They cater to a diverse clientele, including residential, commercial, institutional, and government customers. Their approach involves close collaboration with clients to grasp their unique needs, allowing them to craft tailor-made solutions for each project.
The signing of the contract marks a crucial milestone in the sector of sustainable energy solutions for the region. Both projects are expected to reach completion within the span of a year, bringing a substantial boost to Gujarat’s renewable energy capacity. The tender for these projects was floated in July, underscoring the swift progress and commitment of the stakeholders involved.
The scope of work outlined in the contract is complete, covering crucial aspects such as land development, design, engineering, equipment procurement, testing, packing, forwarding, and transportation. Furthermore, the responsibilities extend to civil and electrical works, services, permits, licenses, installation, erection, testing, commissioning, and performance demonstration of the solar projects. The enclose scope is designed to ensure the seamless operation of the solar projects.
Importantly, the contract with Solar world Energy Solutions does not only involve the supply of modules. The company will also undertake the main role of handling the operation and maintenance of the projects for a period of three years post-completion. This approach reflects a commitment to the long-term success and sustainability of the solar installations.
Solar world Energy Solutions is also set to supply a 220 kV switchyard in conjunction with the transmission system for the projects. Notably, the company will be tasked with integrating these components with the evacuation system provided by the state electricity authority, showcasing a commitment to synergy and system compatibility.
This collaboration is not the first between SJVN and Solar world Energy Solutions. In July 2022, SJVN signed an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract with Solar world for a 75 MW solar project in Gurah village, Jalaun district, and a 50 MW project in Gujrai village, Kanpur district. The cumulative estimated cost for these two EPC contracts stood at 6.91 billion Rs. (~$83.1 million), surrounding end-to-end delivery of the solar projects and operation and maintenance for a duration of two years.
In this move within the public sector, SJVN secured an impressive 100 billion Rs. (~$1.2 billion) construction financing facility to fund its upcoming renewable energy projects. The partnership of financiers included Deutsche Bank, State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Bank of India, and Mitsubishi, as well as United Financial of Japan Financial Group Bank. This substantial financial backing highlights the confidence and support garnered by SJVN for its initiatives in the renewable energy sector.
The projects in Gujarat align with the broader national objective of expanding the share of renewable energy in the country’s power mix. India has set ambitious targets for increasing its renewable energy capacity, and collaborations such as the one between SJVN and Solar World Energy Solutions play an important role in realizing these objectives. The successful implementation of these solar projects not only contributes to sustainable energy generation but also stimulates economic growth and job creation in the region.
