As India works towards becoming a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing, Gujarat is emerging as a key player in this transformation. With a solid policy framework, world-class infrastructure, and strategic government initiatives, the state is fast becoming the preferred destination for semiconductor investments. Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is nurturing a robust Semiconductor & Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) ecosystem, promoting innovation, research, and manufacturing excellence in semiconductors.

Following the success of the Gujarat SemiConnect Conference 2024, the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of Gujarat, the global semiconductor association SEMI, and the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) have announced that “Gujarat SemiConnect 2025” will play a crucial role in advancing India’s semiconductor self-sufficiency.

With guidance from Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, Gujarat has swiftly seized emerging opportunities, creating a competitive edge that has attracted major semiconductor investments. With facilities at various stages of development, the government is focused on building a resilient and sustainable semiconductor ecosystem to ensure long-term growth.

Mona Khandhar IAS, Principal Secretary, DST, Government of Gujarat, remarked: “A robust Semiconductor & ESDM sector can significantly boost India’s economy, foster innovation, and enhance national security. Hosting the second edition of the Gujarat SemiConnect Conference, including the IESA Vision Summit and ISPEC, emphasizes Gujarat’s pivotal role in India’s semiconductor revolution. We are committed to establishing the state as a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing and look forward to collaborating with thought leaders, innovators, and visionaries worldwide to strengthen the local-to-global value chain.” The event will bring together over 1,500 delegates from around the world, including top government officials, industry leaders, MSMEs, startups, academia, and more than 25 government representatives. The summit will provide insights into policy frameworks and strategies shaping the future of the semiconductor and electronics sectors.

Dr V Veerappan, Chairperson, IESA, and Ashok Chandak, President, IESA, highlighted: “The IESA Vision Summit 2025 demonstrates our ongoing commitment to fostering semiconductor manufacturing in India. With strong participation from global semiconductor supply chains, we are working together to build a resilient ecosystem. This year’s summit will feature six country delegations and visionary keynote sessions to accelerate India’s journey toward becoming a global semiconductor hub.”

The Department of Science and Technology (DST), SEMI, and IESA have shared details of Gujarat SemiConnect 2025, which will include the 19th edition of the IESA Vision Summit and the Indian Semiconductors & Packaging Ecosystem Conference (ISPEC) 2025, set to take place from March 5-7, 2025. The conference will be jointly organized by Gujarat State Electronics Mission (GSEM), SEMI, and IESA. During a press briefing at Sachivalaya, Gandhinagar, Ms. Mona Khandhar, Mr. Manish Gurwani, Mission Director of GSEM, Mr. Ajit Manocha, President and CEO of SEMI, Mr. Ashok Chandak, and representatives from semiconductor anchor investors like Micron, Tata, CG Power, and Kaynes provided more information.

Ajit Manocha, President and CEO of SEMI Global, commented: “The global semiconductor industry is undergoing a major shift to strengthen supply chain resilience by diversifying manufacturing hubs, creating an unprecedented opportunity for India to increase its industry share. Gujarat’s pioneering policies and industry-friendly approach have been critical to India’s initial success in semiconductor manufacturing. Through international collaborations, GSEM, SEMI, and IESA are committed to accelerating India’s journey to becoming a key player in the global semiconductor ecosystem. Events like these will be instrumental in expanding opportunities.”

The flagship event, which will play a pivotal role in shaping India’s Semiconductor and ESDM sector, will be inaugurated by Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, Chief Minister of Gujarat, and Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India, on March 5, 2025, at the Mahatma Mandir Convention and Exhibition Centre, Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

Silicon Gujarat: Powering India’s Semiconductor Revolution will explore how a thriving Semiconductor & ESDM sector can drive India to global leadership in technology and manufacturing. The event will focus on attracting global investments, enhancing the capacity of local industries by integrating them into the global value chain, promoting specialized training in the growing high-tech sector, and fostering ecosystem development to create a strong semiconductor ecosystem in Gujarat.

Key highlights of the event will include the groundbreaking ceremony for Kaynes Technology’s new semiconductor facility in Gujarat, MoUs with Jabil Inc for a Silicon Photonics facility, TSMT for a new manufacturing unit, Micron for EHS initiatives, and Tata Electronics with IIT Gandhinagar. The event will also see the release of various reports, including Gujarat Semiconnect Conference 2024 and IESA’s semiconductor supply chain report, as well as product launches under the “Make in India” initiative.

The event will also feature keynote addresses and impactful panel discussions from industry leaders, government policymakers, and technology innovators, focusing on emerging industry trends, cutting-edge technologies, and transformative global collaborations. Delegates will have the opportunity to visit the emerging semiconductor clusters in Dholera and Sanand during the event.

The parallel ISPEC event will feature research sessions with 80 faculty presentations across 12 strategic research areas, student poster sessions from over 150 Ph.D. and M.Tech. students, and a workforce session with participation from over 50 companies from India, the US, Europe, Japan, and Korea. Gujarat SemiConnect 2025 aligns with India’s vision to become a global semiconductor hub, reinforcing the state’s commitment to developing a world-class semiconductor and ESDM ecosystem through strategic investments, policy support, and skill development.
