Signify, the global leader in lighting solutions, has joined forces with the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board to introduce eco-friendly outdoor lighting systems to 61 tourism-driven villages across the state under its ‘Har Gaon Roshan’ CSR program. The initiative focuses on empowering tribal communities and regions near national parks, improving safety, visibility, and enriching the tourist experience in these underserved areas.
The project will be executed in collaboration with Haritika, Signify’s long-term NGO partner, bringing energy-efficient lighting to these remote villages. In addition to improving infrastructure, the initiative aims to create a safe and welcoming environment for both locals and tourists, while opening up new economic opportunities for the communities.
The official Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed during a formal event in Bhopal, attended by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, alongside Signify’s leadership team. This moment highlighted Signify’s commitment to driving sustainable development and empowering communities through innovative lighting solutions.
Nikhil Gupta, Head of Marketing, Strategy, Govt Affairs, and CSR at Signify Greater India, commented, “Our Har Gaon Roshan CSR initiative is designed to bring innovative solutions to communities across India. With the support of the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, we are working together to enhance rural areas through tourism. By illuminating these villages, we are improving safety and visibility, and strengthening our dedication to positively impacting the lives of underserved communities across India, fostering growth and empowerment through light.”
A representative from the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board shared, “This collaboration with Signify represents a key milestone in our efforts to transform rural tourism in Madhya Pradesh. Lighting these villages will not only enhance safety and infrastructure, but also create new opportunities for community-based tourism, economic development, and support livelihoods—especially in the evenings. This will allow for activities such as displaying local handicrafts, promoting handloom products, selling organic produce, and hosting cultural performances and evening tours.”
