Sigma Advanced Systems has won an export contract valued at approximately ₹208 crore for the manufacture and supply of 40,000 units of 155 mm M107 artillery shell bodies to a customer in North America, marking a significant milestone in the company’s expansion within the global defence manufacturing sector. The contract, valued at nearly US$22 million, will be executed over a six-month period, with production and deliveries scheduled for completion within the project timeline. The order represents a major step in Sigma’s evolution from a specialist fuze manufacturer into a broader supplier of critical artillery ammunition components.
The project involves the production of 155 mm artillery shell bodies, one of the most important structural elements in modern artillery ammunition. Manufacturing these components requires advanced capabilities in metallurgy, forging, machining, heat treatment and quality assurance to ensure performance under demanding operational conditions.
Sigma has secured the necessary export authorization from the Department of Defence Production under India’s Ministry of Defence, enabling execution of the international order. The scale of the contract underscores the company’s ability to deliver high-volume defence manufacturing programmes while meeting stringent quality and performance standards required by global customers.
The 155 mm calibre remains the preferred standard for artillery systems used by NATO members and allied defence forces worldwide. Rising global demand for ammunition and defence preparedness has increased the need for reliable suppliers capable of producing precision-engineered components at scale.
Company leadership noted that the contract reflects growing international confidence in India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem and in Sigma’s engineering and production capabilities. The project further strengthens the company’s position within global defence supply chains and demonstrates its ability to deliver complex products that meet international specifications.
Over the years, Sigma Advanced Systems has built strong relationships with leading aerospace and defence original equipment manufacturers. The latest contract expands the company’s role within the defence sector and establishes a foundation for future opportunities in ammunition manufacturing and related military programmes.
Sigma specializes in producing high-complexity and safety-critical components, assemblies, and systems across aerospace, defense, and emerging technology sectors.
