Siemens has announced plans to spin off its eMobility business, which was consolidated in 2018 and organized into a standalone unit in 2022. The move is aimed at giving the division more independence, allowing it to operate with greater agility and efficiency in the rapidly expanding electric vehicle (EV) charging market.
The carve-out will position Siemens eMobility to seize new opportunities in the growing EV infrastructure sector. Siemens has made strategic investments to enhance its eMobility business, strengthening its technology and expanding its portfolio. A key acquisition was Heliox, a leader in DC fast charging solutions for eBus and eTruck fleets, which extended Siemens’ reach in Europe and North America while enhancing its power electronics capabilities.
By combining Siemens eMobility with Heliox under a unified legal structure, the carve-out will create an entity poised to leverage it’s expertise and Heliox’s innovative spirit. This new framework will help Siemens eMobility focus on high-growth areas, build strategic partnerships, and accelerate its market leadership, supporting the global shift towards sustainable mobility.
Matthias Rebellius, Member of the the company Managing Board and CEO of Smart Infrastructure, noted, “This reorganization will allow the business to focus on high-potential segments and key markets, driving profitability and enabling new partnerships to expand customer access. Building EV charging infrastructure is essential for the electrification of transport and achieving net-zero targets by 2050.”
The Company offers a broad range of IoT-enabled AC and DC charging solutions, with power capacities ranging from 11 kW to 1 megawatt, catering to various applications. It operates production and R&D facilities across Germany, Portugal, the U.S., India, and the Netherlands.
