A consortium comprising Siemens Limited and Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has secured a ₹394 crore contract from Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRC), according to an exchange filing on Monday.

The consortium received a letter of acceptance from BMRC for the “engineering, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of 33 KV distribution, 750V DC third rail traction electrification including traction substations, auxiliary substations, and SCADA system for phase-2A and phase-2B,” RVNL announced in a stock exchange filing. The contract is to be executed within 130 weeks.

Following the announcement, the stock price of RVNL fell marginally by 0.6% to ₹373.8 on the BSE, while Siemens Limited’s share price also dipped by 0.18% to ₹6,861.6.

In a related development, RVNL emerged as the lowest bidder for another contract from Central Railway. This ₹138 crore order involves “OHE modification work for up-gradation of the existing 1 x 25 kV electric traction system to a 2 x 25 kV AT feeding system in the Amla-Nagpur Section of the Nagpur division of Central Railway to meet a 3000 MT loading target.” This project is scheduled to be completed within the next 24 months, RVNL informed the exchanges.

The successful bid for the Bangalore Metro project and the lowest bid for the Central Railway project underscore the consortium’s growing presence and expertise in India’s rail and metro infrastructure sector.
