Siemens Mobility is showcasing the future of connected rail transportation at InnoTrans 2026 with the global debut of Vectron X, the company’s new software-defined locomotive platform that extends the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio directly into rolling stock for the first time. The introduction of Vectron X marks a major milestone in Siemens Mobility’s vision for an open, connected and future-ready rail ecosystem. By combining proven locomotive technology with digital services, open application programming interfaces (APIs), standardized data platforms and a connected application environment, Vectron X enables operators to improve capacity, reliability, availability and lifecycle efficiency.

At InnoTrans 2026, Siemens Mobility will demonstrate how artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics and digital platforms are transforming rail operations worldwide. The company will present its complete Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, including Signaling X, Mobility Software Suite X and Railigent X, through more than 45 indoor exhibits, immersive digital experiences and over 300 meters of outdoor displays at its 1,000-square-meter exhibition area in Hall 27, Booth 230.

“Nothing is transforming rail faster than data and AI. Operators need more capacity, availability and a better passenger experience while making the most of existing infrastructure. That’s exactly what Siemens Xcelerator is designed to deliver,” said Michael Peter, CEO of Siemens Mobility. “At InnoTrans 2022, we committed to building a connected, open and future-ready mobility ecosystem. Today, that vision has become reality. With Vectron X, we are bringing this open platform and software-defined approach to rolling stock.”

Vectron X introduces a new approach to locomotive operations by enabling continuous digital evolution throughout the vehicle lifecycle. The platform features an onboard App Store and a central Smart Screen that combines operational information, route data and applications from customers, operators and third-party providers into a single interface. Through Railigent X, the locomotive can receive software updates and new digital capabilities without requiring major hardware changes.

A key demonstration at InnoTrans will showcase the integration of Vectron X with Signaling X, Mobility Software Suite X and Railigent X through open data exchange, cloud technologies and connected APIs, highlighting the potential of a fully integrated digital rail ecosystem.

Siemens Mobility will also demonstrate AI applications across the rail value chain, including intelligent traffic management, predictive maintenance, infrastructure monitoring, passenger information services and travel assistance solutions. These technologies enable operators to transform operational data into actionable insights that improve performance and customer experience.

The company will highlight Signaling X as a digital foundation for modern rail infrastructure, combining proven signaling technologies with modular software, cloud-ready architecture and open interfaces. Solutions such as Smart Object Controllers and the DS3 safety platform demonstrate how digital intelligence can extend from control centers to railway field assets.

Through Railigent X, Siemens Mobility will showcase how AI-powered maintenance solutions improve asset availability by using sensors, diagnostics and predictive analytics to identify potential issues before they affect operations. Automated inspection systems, remote diagnostics and over-the-air software updates help reduce downtime and optimize maintenance processes.

The Mobility Software Suite X portfolio will demonstrate how software can improve passenger experience and network efficiency. Highlights include AI-enabled revenue management, digital travel assistants, disruption management solutions and advanced train planning systems that help operators increase infrastructure utilization.

Beyond digital innovation, Siemens Mobility will display a broad range of rail technologies, including Vectron X locomotives, Mireo regional trains, battery-powered Mireo Plus B solutions, Inspiro London metro trains and turnkey rail infrastructure solutions supported by digital twin technology. With Vectron X and its expanded Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, Siemens Mobility is advancing the transition toward smarter, more sustainable and digitally connected rail systems designed to meet the evolving needs of operators and passengers worldwide.
