India is set to become one of Siemens top three revenue-generating markets within the next three years, surpassing France and potentially Germany, according to Peter Koerte, a member of the company’s managing board. Highlighting India’s rapid growth, Koerte emphasized Siemens’ strong commitment to the market, backed by a recent investment announcement of €100 million.

Currently, the United States leads Siemens’ revenue rankings, followed by China, Germany, and France. India, where Siemens has operated for 157 years, accounts for 4% of the company’s global revenue, according to Sunil Mathur, Managing Director and CEO of Siemens India.

The Indian government’s focus on infrastructure is driving significant business opportunities for Siemens, with 60% of its local revenue tied to public sector projects. A notable example is a ₹30,000-crore contract to supply locomotives to Indian Railways over 11 years. Mathur also noted a gradual resurgence in private sector investments, particularly in emerging areas like data centers and renewable energy.

The company employs 32,000 people, including 10,000 software professionals supporting global operations from hubs in Pune and Bengaluru. Key growth sectors include infrastructure, industrial applications, and mobility.

Despite India’s cost-sensitive market, which features over 60 million small and medium enterprises, Koerte expressed confidence in the country’s potential. Improved ease of doing business over the past six years and growing demand for energy-efficient solutions further solidify India’s strategic importance to its global operations.
