Siegwerk, a global leader in printing inks and coatings for packaging, has announced a strategic investment of INR 350 crore over the next three years to significantly expand its footprint across India. This investment will drive research, innovation, and advanced manufacturing, placing India at the center of Siegwerk’s global growth strategy.
With India emerging as one of the world’s fastest-growing consumer markets, this investment will address evolving packaging demands while supporting the country’s broader industrial growth ambitions. A major portion of the funding will go toward scaling Siegwerk’s Global Innovation and Capability Center (GICC) in India—an end-to-end hub for R&D, regulatory excellence, digital solutions, and customer collaboration.
The upgraded GICC will house world-class research infrastructure focused on developing next-generation, safe, and sustainable ink solutions. From regulatory compliance to high-performance and recyclable formulations, the facility aims to deliver cutting-edge solutions for global and local markets alike.
The expansion also includes bolstering Siegwerk’s supply chain with a new National Distribution Centre in Tauru, as well as 14 Colour Matching Centres (CMCs) strategically located across India. These enhancements ensure faster turnaround times, improved service levels, and increased production capacities, supporting a broad portfolio of solvent- and water-based inks across applications such as Flexible Packaging, Sheetfed, Narrow Web, and Paper & Board.
Siegwerk’s investment is focused not just on capacity expansion but on redefining sustainability benchmarks. The company continues to lead the industry in phasing out hazardous substances like mineral oils and toluene, and is committed to pioneering safe, circular, and compliant ink technologies.
As part of this initiative, Siegwerk has expanded and automated its blending facility in Pune, further strengthening its local manufacturing base to meet growing demand—particularly for water-based inks. This facility is now a key pillar of Siegwerk’s sustainable supply chain in India.
The multi-city expansion includes new infrastructure, technology upgrades, and digital integration across Siegwerk’s India operations, all contributing to the GICC’s success. With a workforce of over 1,000 employees in India, the company is doubling down on talent development, innovation, and operational excellence.
Ashish Pradhan, President – Asia, Siegwerk, stated “India continues to be a strategic growth market for us. With this investment, we are not only expanding our physical infrastructure but also investing in the future of sustainable packaging. The GICC will play a pivotal role in our global innovation efforts and reflects our commitment to building long-term value for customers, communities, and the country.”
Manjusha Singh, CEO – Siegwerk India Region, added “This investment goes beyond business growth—it’s about driving transformation. By pioneering mineral oil-free inks and advanced R&D capabilities, we’re shaping a safer, more sustainable future for the packaging industry in India and globally.”
Siegwerk expects this expansion to support a consistent annual growth rate of 8–10%, aligned with global sustainability goals and evolving market demands. In addition to infrastructure, the company is investing in workforce training, digital tools, and sustainable practices to build a resilient, future-ready ecosystem.
