This Durga Puja, Shyam Metalics Foundation, the CSR arm of Shyam Metalics, has launched a community-driven initiative titled ‘Shelter of Protection’, aimed at supporting families in need by donating roofing sheets used in festive installations. As part of this outreach, the company has installed three specially designed, home-inspired pandals in Garia, Dankuni, and Burdwan, using their own high-strength roofing materials. After the celebrations conclude, the sheets will be distributed to families lacking secure shelter—offering them not just protection from the elements, but a lasting symbol of care and solidarity.
Durga Puja, one of Bengal’s most widely celebrated festivals, is traditionally a time for renewal and togetherness. Through this effort, Shyam Metalics connects the cultural significance of the festival with a meaningful cause—transforming festive materials into practical resources for vulnerable households.
Nirmal Uday, COO of the CRM Division at Shyam Metalics, commented “Durga Puja brings people together, not only in celebration but also in compassion. Our ‘Shelter of Protection’ campaign is a small step toward extending that spirit beyond rituals. The idea is simple—what we build for festivity should also serve a greater need. These roofing sheets will help provide safe shelter for those who need it most.”
The initiative aligns with the Foundation’s broader approach of linking business capabilities with social responsibility. By repurposing materials used during the festival, the company aims to minimize waste while delivering real benefits to underprivileged families.
