ShipStation has added less-than-truckload (LTL) freight shipping to its platform, allowing small and mid-sized businesses to manage freight and parcel shipments through a single system. The new service gives customers access to real-time LTL rate quotes, shipment booking and freight tracking within the ShipStation platform. Users can manage LTL orders alongside their parcel shipments and handle logistics activities through the same workflow.
The launch follows the completion of the merger between Auctane and WWEX Group in June, which created ShipStation Global. The company said the addition of freight capabilities is an important step in its plan to help growing businesses manage their logistics operations through one platform.
ShipStation customers can access LTL rates through ShipStation Global’s carrier network and create, manage and track freight shipments alongside parcel orders. They can also manage invoicing for both shipping modes. New customers can set up a freight account and access rates without having an existing relationship with a carrier. Businesses that already have negotiated Worldwide Express or Unishippers LTL rates can also bring those rates to the platform.
Tom Madine, CEO of ShipStation Global, said the company had built its reputation around parcel shipping technology for small and mid-sized businesses. He said the addition of freight was a natural extension of the platform and an important step towards providing businesses with a single view of their logistics operations.
According to ShipStation’s 2026 Merchant Insights Report, 78% of merchants already ship freight, while more than half manage freight separately from their parcel operations. The report also found that nearly three-quarters of merchants consider having one provider for shipping, freight and warehousing important or very important. ShipStation said separate systems for parcel shipping, freight brokers and warehouse operations can make it difficult for businesses to gain a complete view of their logistics activity.
Travis Rimel, Chief Product Officer of ShipStation Global, said freight was the missing part of the platform for its customers. He said combining freight and parcel information would provide a foundation for developing new tools that can help businesses make better logistics decisions.
The LTL service is being rolled out to ShipStation merchants. It adds freight management to the platform’s existing capabilities, which include parcel shipping, inventory management, returns and analytics. ShipStation is a shipping and logistics platform serving small and mid-sized businesses. Its services include automated shipping and rate comparison across more than 400 marketplaces, shopping carts and carriers.
The company also provides inventory and returns management and analytics through a single dashboard. ShipStation is part of ShipStation Global, which provides logistics services to millions of businesses and supports billions of shipments each year. With the addition of LTL freight, ShipStation aims to give growing businesses a more unified way to manage different parts of their shipping operations and gain better visibility into their logistics activities.
