SGS, a leading testing, inspection, and certification company, has launched two new additions to its SGS Green Marks program: Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) and Carbon Footprint Reduced. These new certifications help brands, manufacturers, suppliers, and retailers measure and verify the greenhouse gas emissions of their products.
The Product Carbon Footprint certification ensures that information about a product’s carbon emissions is transparent and follows relevant standards. This helps prevent false environmental claims and supports clear communication about a product’s environmental impact. Products with these certifications can stand out from competitors and gain global recognition.
To qualify for SGS Green Marks, a product must have a PCF calculation report. SGS then thoroughly checks this report using the ISO 14064-3 verification process to ensure it meets the standards of ISO 14067:2018 or the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
Keith Hutchinson, Deputy Head of Connectivity & Products Global Certification at SGS, said, “We are excited to offer these new services to help organizations show their commitment to sustainability. SGS Green Marks help consumers make informed choices by verifying the environmental claims of products.”
SGS Green Marks now include nine different certifications or verifications, covering a wide range of environmental claims. This helps businesses enhance their sustainability efforts and meet growing consumer demand for eco-friendly products.
