The Solar Energy Society of India (SESI), in collaboration with International Solar Alliance (ISA), NSFEI, and Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation is organizing a special event on June 21, 2024, to celebrate Saur Urja Diwas (Solar Energy Day). This significant day, when Earth receives the maximum sunlight of the year, reflects the transformative potential of solar energy as a sustainable power source. The event will be held at Mirza Galib Chamber, Scope Convention Center, Scope Complex, CGO complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.

The event will commence at 10:00 AM with registration and high tea, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp at 10:30 AM. Prafulla Pathak, the President of SESI will deliver the welcome address, setting the stage for a day dedicated to the celebration and promotion of solar energy. Dr Ashwinikumar will present the concept of the event at 10:45 AM, leading up to the launch of the World Solar Conference proceedings at 11:00 AM by Dr Ajay Mathur, Director General of the International Solar Alliance and Dr Dave Renne, Director of nternational Solar Energy Society (ISES). Dr Renne will then provide insights into the World Solar Conference, paving the way for a panel discussion at 11:15 AM.
The panel discussion, titled “Challenges and Opportunities to Accelerate Financing of Solar Projects to Meet National Targets,” will feature esteemed participants including Dr Ajay K Mathur, Sudeep Jain IAS, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy; Vivek Kumar Dewangan, Chairman and Managing Director of REC Ltd; Dr Amit Jain, Senior Energy Specialist at the World Bank; Chintan Shah, Group President at Renew Power; and K Mukundan, Strategic Initiatives & Policy Advisory at the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF). The discussion will be moderated by Koyel Mandal, Director of Climate – India at the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF).
