Servotech Renewable Power System Limited has announced its partnership with Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) to install an EV charging station at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru. The station will feature 10 ultra-fast 240 kW DC EV chargers, marking a major leap toward enhancing airside EV operations at the airport.
This new EV charging hub will have a combined capacity of 2.4 MW, with each of the 10 chargers capable of delivering 240 kW. This makes it the largest of its kind at any Indian airport, aimed at supporting electric buses that transport passengers between terminals and aircraft.
The chargers will be strategizcally placed across the airport to ensure 24/7 operational capability, further improving airside EV efficiency and enabling quick vehicle turnarounds. This initiative is expected to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of the airport’s transportation systems and contribute to its sustainability efforts by decreasing emissions linked to airport transport operations.
Under the agreement, Servotech Renewable will handle the supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and a 5-year maintenance contract for the EV charging station. The installation will also play a crucial role in Karnataka’s broader environmental goals, supporting the state’s target of becoming carbon-negative by accelerating the electrification of one of its busiest transportation hubs.
