Serentica Renewables, an Indian renewable energy company, is inviting bids to set up battery energy storage systems (BESS) connected to the interstate transmission system. They need 800 MWh of battery capacity for their green energy projects.

Project Details

Serentica Renewables requires 200 MW/400 MWh for 2-hour storage and 100 MW/400 MWh for 4-hour storage. The battery energy storage system (BESS) providers must own at least 51% of the project. Serentica will procure the BESS capacity on an annual basis under a 12-year service agreement, which will commence in June 2026.

Submission Deadline

The last day to submit bids is July 30, 2024.

Serentica’s Green Energy Goals

Serentica is working on 4 GW of projects to deliver 2 GW of round-the-clock green energy yearly to industrial customers in India. Their goal is to supply over 50 billion units of clean energy annually in the medium term, offsetting 47 million tonnes of CO2 emissions. Vedanta-backed Serentica, established in 2022, is on track to become the fastest renewable energy firm to reach 1 GW and possibly 5 GW milestones. Initially, Serentica focused on helping Vedanta group companies like Vedanta Limited, Hindustan Zinc, and Sterlite Copper to decarbonize. Recently, Serentica has also won bids at renewable energy auctions from SECI. Given the large power needs, especially round-the-clock (RTC) requirements at these industrial units, Serentica has prioritized RTC power from the beginning and is expanding its investments.
