Senvion India, a prominent supplier of wind turbines, has achieved a significant milestone by crossing the 1 GW mark of installed wind turbines (WTGs) in the country. This accomplishment highlights the company’s strong commitment to India’s rapidly growing wind energy market. In addition to reaching the 1 GW milestone, Senvion India has successfully completed the manufacturing of 500 nacelles at its Baramati (Maharashtra) plant and 500 sets of blades at its production facilities in Vadodara (Gujarat) and Tiruchirappalli (Tamil Nadu).
With a focus on the Make in India initiative, Senvion has localized its operations and manufacturing processes. The company has achieved over 80% localization at the sub-component level, with an ongoing commitment to make 100% of its turbines in India. Senvion’s expansion in India has contributed to local job creation and the development of domestic manufacturing capabilities, further supporting the country’s ambition to become a hub for wind turbine production.
Amit Kansal, CEO and Managing Director of Senvion India, shared, “Reaching 1 GW of commissioned capacity has been a significant milestone, and we thank our customers for helping us achieve this. More than 95% of this capacity is under Senvion’s extensive maintenance program. While we celebrate this achievement, we are already in the process of commissioning the next 1 GW, with firm orders to complete it within the next year. Our commitment to the Indian wind market remains strong and ambitious, and we are excited to soon launch our next-generation 4.2 MW turbine.”
Looking ahead, Senvion India aims to capture 15% of the market share in grid-connected wind turbine installations in the coming financial year. The company’s growing presence in the industry, combined with its focus on technological innovation and localized manufacturing, will help support India’s renewable energy goals, including the government’s target of 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.
