Union Minister Jitin Prasada announced that Uttar Pradesh is set to establish a semiconductor manufacturing facility, marking a major development for the state. Speaking at the 21st Indo-US Economic Summit hosted by the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC), Prasada emphasized that Uttar Pradesh will soon be among the few regions to host such advanced technology facilities.

Highlighting the state’s potential, Shri Prasada stated, “Work on a semiconductor plant in Uttar Pradesh will commence soon. I am confident that this will position the state as a leader in niche technology manufacturing, driving India’s growth.”

This announcement follows the recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and the United States for setting up semiconductor fabrication units, reflecting India’s increasing prominence in the global tech sector. Jitin Prasada stressed the critical role semiconductors will play in India’s digital transformation and the importance of staying ahead in adopting these technologies.

The minister also pointed out the government’s commitment to extending the benefits of technology to rural and underserved areas. He noted that the India-US collaboration in semiconductor development would have long-term, transformative effects on the country’s tech landscape.

Jitin Prasada further highlighted the growing importance of cybersecurity in today’s world, given the shift in warfare from physical to digital realms. On India’s economic resilience, he reaffirmed the country’s strong fundamentals and rapid progress towards its growth goals. He also commented on the strengthening Indo-US partnership, noting that it has evolved into a mutually beneficial relationship for both nations.
