Siemens Digital Industries Software has announced that SEDEMAC has chosen the Siemens Xcelerator suite of industry software to enhance innovation and accelerate product development within its Research & Development, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams, without compromising quality. This software will support SEDEMAC in creating motor control units and engine control units. The motor control units utilize SEDEMAC’s pioneering sensor-less control (SLC) technology and are implemented in electric vehicles, hybrids, eBikes, and power tools, while the engine control units are designed for both off-road and on-road engines.
SEDEMAC, which was established at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, boasts top-tier development and manufacturing facilities in Pune, India. Its SLC technology is currently used in millions of vehicles and other electric and internal combustion engine (ICE) equipment globally. To enhance traceability between requirements and test cases, manage versioning, standardize design actions, and centralize test reports, SEDEMAC has adopted Siemens’ Polarion™ X software across its R&D teams.
Additionally, SEDEMAC has integrated Siemens’ Teamcenter® X software for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), complementing its Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tool, Polarion. This combination facilitates rapid development while maintaining high quality. The digital innovation framework established with Teamcenter X promotes efficient collaboration among various teams, improves manufacturing Bill of Materials (mBOM) management, and significantly enhances engineering productivity.
Harsh Vinjamoor, Chief Engineer of Systems Engineering at SEDEMAC, remarked, “Polarion’s adaptable approach enables us to develop workflows that align with our processes in a comprehensive yet user-friendly way. With advanced reporting tools, our quality team can oversee multiple projects simultaneously and keep management informed of any potential risks. The flexibility to adjust workflows supports ongoing process improvement within our organization.”
Mathew Thomas, Managing Director and Vice President for India at Siemens Digital Industries Software, added, “A robust digital platform strategy is essential for product manufacturers aiming to create top-tier solutions for the emerging electric vehicle landscape. We are excited to collaborate with SEDEMAC on this journey and to empower them with Siemens’ digital twin capabilities based on the Siemens Xcelerator platform. This platform offers interoperability and flexibility to integrate seamlessly with SEDEMAC’s existing digital technologies, creating an optimized digital thread that allows them to concentrate on product development, R&D, and engineering efficiently.”
