The Secretary, MeitY have honored and recognized the contribution of the women workforce in the Electronics Manufacturing Industry in an event, organized by MeitY and NIELIT at Dr Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi, on 27th January 2024.

MeitY, one of the key ministries within the Government of India, is dedicated to fostering growth in the information technology and electronics sectors. With a focus on policymaking, implementation, and regulation, MeitY plays a pivotal role in advancing digital initiatives, innovation, and promoting a knowledge-based economy.

NIELIT, an autonomous scientific society under MeitY, strives to enhance human resource capacity in electronics and information technology. Through education, training, and certification programs, NIELIT contributes to skill development and promotes a skilled workforce for the rapidly evolving technology landscape in India.

In a celebration marking Republic Day 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended invitations to guests from diverse fields and ministries to witness the Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path. This year, an estimated 13,000 special guests were welcomed, aligning with the Government’s vision of Jan Bhagidari, promoting active citizen engagement in the national festival.

Participating in the Republic Day Celebrations were over 250 female workers representing five prominent companies—Samsung, Wistron, Dixon, Pegatron, and VVDN. The inclusion of these women workers from the electronic manufacturing industry in the Republic Day parade underscores the Government’s commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and fostering the active participation of citizens.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was S Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY. Other dignitaries present included Madan Mohan Tripathi, Director General, NIELIT, Abhilasha Gaur, CEO, ESSCI, Girija Vedi, Senior Vice President, VVDN, and Subhanshu Tiwari, Executive Director, NIELIT.

The Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), S Krishnan, emphasized the diverse qualities exhibited by women that play a crucial role in enhancing the success and vibrancy of any industry. He commended the reliability and integrity consistently demonstrated by women in their roles, fostering a sense of dependability within the workplace.

The female workers conveyed a profound sense of honor and privilege upon receiving the invitation to attend the Republic Day celebration at Kartavya Path. They expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for affording them the chance to highlight their accomplishments to the nation. The women emphasized that they were deeply moved by the gracious hospitality extended to them during the event.
