Schwing Stetter India, a prominent manufacturer of construction and concreting equipment in the country, has recently completed the installation of a 1MW solar power system at its Global manufacturing hub in Cheyyar. The inauguration of this facility was overseen by V.G Sakthikumar, the esteemed Chairman & Managing Director of Schwing Stetter India.

This strategic move towards solar energy reflects the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability, as the facility is now poised to become carbon neutral in the foreseeable future. The solar power system is capable of generating 14 lakh kWh of electricity, satisfying a substantial 20% of the facility’s total annual power requirements.

Schwing’s Global manufacturing hub, with its impressive capacity to manufacture 14,000 machines annually, underscores the company’s dedication to sustainable practices. This initiative also aligns with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s ambitious plan to double the country’s annual solar capacity by 2026.

V.G Sakthikumar emphasized Schwing’s dedication to sustainability and energy conservation, stating, “Our commitment to the environment and the government’s green energy objectives drives our operations. Schwing is resolute in its sustainability efforts, evident in our investment in renewable energy infrastructure on-site and our commitment to expanding our use of green energy for operations. Our focus is on achieving carbon neutrality, transitioning to renewable energy sources, promoting circularity, and fostering eco-friendly operations.”

As part of its 25th-anniversary celebration and to further its commitment to carbon neutrality, Schwing undertook a significant tree-planting initiative last year, planting 2,50,000 saplings across the country. After celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2023, Schwing Stetter India, which was incorporated in June 1998 and began its manufacturing operations in 1999, stands as a 100% subsidiary of Schwing GmbH.

This German concreting machinery manufacturer, valued at 1.30 billion USD, is a key component of the XCMG group. Schwing Stetter is renowned for its pioneering work in manufacturing equipment essential for concrete preparation, placement, transportation, and recycling. Schwing Stetter specializes in the production of various equipment such as concrete batching plants, concrete placing booms, concrete pumps, and concrete truck mixers, facilitating the transport of readymade concrete to construction sites.

Additionally, the company manufactures concrete truck mixers integrated with concrete pumps, concrete recycling plants, plastering pumps, self-loading mixers, and sludge pumps. The company’s recent endeavors have seen the launch of a newer range of equipment from GOMACO and XCMG, including concrete pavers, aerial working platforms, all-terrain cranes, cold milling machines, crawler cranes, excavators, horizontal directional drilling, motor graders, rotary drilling rigs, tower cranes, truck cranes, and wheel loaders.

Schwing Stetter (India) not only caters to the requirements of infrastructure developers but also serves as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) supplier to various cement companies that provide ready-mix concrete.
