Schneider Electric, a leader in energy management and automation, has launched the Galaxy VXL, a state-of-the-art 500-1250 kW 3-phase uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system. Designed to deliver efficient, compact, modular, and scalable power protection, the Galaxy VXL is perfect for high-performance environments, including AI, hyperscale data centers, and other critical infrastructures.

With a compact 1.2m² footprint, the Galaxy VXL sets a new standard in power density, offering an impressive 1042 kW/m². This advanced UPS can support up to 1.25 MW per frame, with the ability to scale to 5 MW through a parallel connection of four units. It achieves 99% efficiency in eConversion mode and 97.5% in double conversion mode, reducing both energy consumption and carbon emissions while providing reliable power protection. The modular, N+1 redundant design ensures a 10x increase in availability, while its scalability supports future expansion without large upfront costs.

Schneider Electric’s Galaxy VXL is designed with versatility in mind, supporting both Lithium-ion and VRLA batteries. It also offers a seamless maintenance experience with its Live Swap functionality, ensuring minimal downtime. Additionally, the EcoStruxure IT integration allows for secure remote monitoring with robust cybersecurity features, certified to IEC 62443-4-2 standards, ensuring the safety and resilience of the entire system.

Venkataraman Swaminathan, Vice President of the Secure Power Division at Schneider Electric Greater India, highlighted the growing need for sustainable and resilient power solutions as businesses scale. He said, “As infrastructure needs grow, the Galaxy VXL UPS represents a major leap in power protection, providing a compact, high-density design that’s ideal for industries like AI, data centers, and critical infrastructure. It optimizes energy consumption, lowers operational costs, and ensures exceptional reliability for demanding workloads.”

The Galaxy VXL offers a modular, scalable power design with a remarkable power density of 1042 kW per square meter. This allows for flexible expansion, providing up to 5 MW of power within just 4.8 m² of space. Its scalable architecture ensures that businesses can meet growing power demands while optimizing the available space in their facilities.

One of the standout features of the Galaxy VXL is its compact 1.2m² design, which reduces its footprint by 52% compared to industry standards. This smaller size, coupled with easy front access and no need for rear clearance, allows for better space utilization and maximizes power efficiency, making it a practical solution for environments with limited space.

In terms of energy efficiency, the Galaxy VXL excels with up to 99% efficiency in eConversion mode and 97.5% in double conversion mode. These high efficiency levels help reduce raw material usage and minimize packaging waste. The inclusion of Smart Power Test (SPoT) mode further enhances energy conservation by allowing users to test efficiency and optimize performance.

The Galaxy VXL is designed for cost-effective operation, with its high efficiency reducing electricity bills while simplifying maintenance and lowering labor costs. This results in a lower total cost of ownership (TCO) over the product’s lifecycle. Additionally, it features advanced safety and cybersecurity measures, including certification to IEC 62443-4-2 and Live Swap technology, allowing for seamless power module replacements without disruption. The system also comes with the EcoCare service plan, offering 24/7 AI-powered remote monitoring, condition-based maintenance, and expert support to extend the lifespan of the UPS system, making it an ideal choice for modular, prefabricated data centers.

In response to the increasing demand for AI systems, Schneider Electric is scaling up its manufacturing capacity. By 2025, production for the Galaxy VXL UPS is expected to exceed 9,000 units annually. Additionally, the UPS will be available at Schneider Electric’s Sant Boi factory in Barcelona, where it will serve as the backbone for the company’s modular, high-compute workload data center solutions.
